To simplify the pigment dispersion process, Clariant has developed a new range of pigments – ED pigments (easy dispersible) Excellent dispersibility of ED pigments has been achieved by an improved and economic production process which includes a surface treatment of the pigments with a high efficiency, widely compatible dispersing additive.
By using ED pigments, it is now possible to disperse organic pigments with a high speed dissolver without additional milling process, thus achieving finer grind and higher color strength than with the conventional pigments.
Advantages of ED Pigments
- ED Pigments can be dispersed by means of a dissolver, resulting in an important simplification of the paint manufacturing process combined with improved productivity and lower cost.
- ED pigments can be dispersed in bead mills at reduced dispersion time.
- ED pigments do not require dispersants in the formulation.
- For all ED pigments the optimal amount of the same additive is used for surface modification.
- ED pigments can be combined with inorganic pigments for co-grinding by stirring with a dissolver.
- ED pigments show good compatibility with all major solvent borne paint systems.
